DESAIN PFA BUDDY SYSTEM UNTUK MANAJEMEN STRES DAN RESILIENSI PETUGAS PEMASYARAKATAN
Abstract
Correctional officers work in a high-stress environment characterized by intensive interaction with incarcerated people, security risks, administrative demands, workload imbalance, and situational uncertainty. This article develops a contextual Psychological First Aid (PFA) Buddy System as an internal peer-support model for stress management and resilience enhancement among correctional officers. A conceptual literature review was conducted by synthesizing PFA principles, stress and coping theory, resilience literature, burnout studies, and correctional workforce conditions. The synthesis proposes a structured model consisting of organizational preparation, buddy pairing, routine Look-Listen-Link interactions, early identification of psychological distress, professional referral, and periodic monitoring. The model emphasizes confidentiality, role boundaries, voluntary supportive communication, and leadership commitment. PFA Buddy System is expected to strengthen social support, reduce prolonged stress, improve adaptive coping, and build individual and collective resilience. Sustainable implementation requires training, clear procedures, referral pathways, workload-sensitive scheduling, and continuous evaluation.
