Abstract

The function of Correctional Institution officers in fostering prisoners in Correctional Institutions is as mentors and educators, social workers, guardians or parents, maintenance of security, and as communicators with the community, in order to arrange so that the development can run quickly and accurately according to a predetermined program. As well as the problems of Correctional Institutions in character and personal formation reviewed in a sociological perspective including the following matters The lack of proper implementation of the coaching program, The low interest of the inmates themselves to take part in the coaching program, The lack of adequate correctional technical personnel, The low enthusiasm of officers to carry out their duties , officers lack mastery in their respective fields of duty, do not support facilities and infrastructure in carrying out their duties.
